Summary[]

Despite Dina's protests, Amy lets Glenn's pastor host an Earth Day booth at the store, but things quickly unravel when Glenn won't recognize Amy's authority. Jonah spearheads Cloud 9's green initiative, but is met with apathy from his coworkers.

Plot[]

S04E18-Amy Break Room

Okay, that was a good discussion.

In the Break Room, Amy announces what the store is doing for Earth Day and asks the staff what they do to help the environment. As the store's green ambassador, Jonah reads from a pamphlet which is very outdated. Marcus wonders if the goals in the pamphlet were reached which Dina finds weren't, bringing concerned sounds from everyone. In the store, Jonah tries to get Marcus, Cheyenne and Sandra interested in planting trees but once they find out they're not getting paid for it, they decline. Glenn re-introduces Pastor Craig to Amy and Mateo, who he's really trying to impress. Saying Craig is setting up a booth to hand out plants for Earth Day, Amy asks Glenn to get permission from her next time. Skyler and Ted unpack green signs from a box with which spills Styrofoam on the floor. (♫ Huey Lewis and the News - Hip to Be Square ♫)

S04E18-Jonah Garrett

You live for this stuff.

Jonah is disappointed to see fake names on a sign-up sheet for Earth Day activities which leads Garrett to kid him that he's the Bono of the store and point it out to Heather. Protesting that he's not, Garrett continues to kid him. In Amy's office, Dina warns Amy that Pastor Craig's booth could be used for religious purposes and encourages Amy to come down hard on Glenn, admitting that she'd enjoy watching that. Jennifer hands out green pamphlets to customers who throw them on the floor. (♫ Men Without Hats - The Safety Dance ♫) In the Break Room, after Mateo and Sayid complain to Jonah about several green measures he's taken, Jonah gets frustrated and offers to give the green ambassador role up, which Cheyenne accepts.

S04E18-Pastor Craig

Lord forgive her!

At Pastor Craig's booth, Amy finds that Craig is reading a book he's written about God to customers which Glenn is enthusiastically supporting. Taking Glenn aside, Amy unsuccessfully tries to get Glenn to see it's not appropriate but so excited to help Craig, Glenn ignores her and rushes off. Garrett tricks Jonah into wearing a pair of sunglasses that resemble Bono's while Cheyenne takes Jonah's green ambassador button and says she doesn't need his help. Sandra tells Amy that Pastor Craig is selling his book in the store. Finding Craig in full sermon mode discouraging materialism to a group of customers, with Dina in tow, Amy tells Craig to stop. Saying Glenn gave him permission, Dina wants to get Glenn to cause more conflict. Amy asserts that she's the manager and tells Craig to leave. Leading the customers in prayer and disparaging Amy with a Bible quote, Craig points out his church's donation website and leaves.

S04E18-Dina breaks standup

Oh, didn't you hear?

A woman can't decide which recycling bin to put her food in, so she places her tray on the floor. (♫ Everclear - Santa Monica ♫) In the Break Room, Cheyenne starts a "Green Team" meeting while Jonah sits on the sidelines. Asking for suggestions, Sandra, Marcus and Sayid want to tackle various issues which have nothing to do with the environment and post on social media. They critisize Jonah when he points out their scope is too big and they're not really doing anything to help the planet. Discovering that Amy kicked Pastor Craig out of the store, Glenn is egged on by Dina who blames Amy and then destroys a cardboard stand-up of Craig. Confronting Amy in her office, Glenn demands she apologize to Craig. When she refuses, he says she can't be manager anymore and is frustrated when he realizes Amy is in charge and he can't get what he wants.

S04E18-Amy yells at Glenn

Okay, that is it Glenn!

At Coffee & Bakery, Glenn holds a Bible study with Sandra, Earl, Sarah and Elias. Telling him that religious meetings aren't allowed at work, Amy tries to be reasonable with him but Glenn continues, using a film star's name instead of Jesus. Amy snaps and yells at Glenn, threatening to write him up which cows him. Watching Cheyenne, Mateo, Marcus and Sayid take pictures to post on social media, Jonah points out they're not doing anything to help the environment. Garrett believes Jonah misses being in charge and compares him to Bono again. Dina approaches Glenn and fakes concern for his mood after being chewed out by Amy. Implying he's powerless to do anything against Amy, she spurs him on to do something about it. Glenn barricades himself in Amy's office and over the P.A. system, reads from Pastor Craig's book.

S04E18-Green posse

So, kind of like Cheyenne's group?

Amy, Jonah and Dina run to the office where Dina is pleased with Glenn's meltdown. Amy threatens to write Glenn up again but he sings a Christian song in defiance. Dina gets a battering ram. Having knocked down the door, Glenn sits in Amy's office while she types up a disciplinary form on her computer. Offering to forget everything he's done if he apologizes, Glenn refuses. Amy tries to submit the form but it doesn't work. Glenn gives her some tips and then starts typing up the form himself. Jonah starts his own environmental group up which Marcus dubs the "Green Posse" with Sandra, Ted, Marcus, Earl, Heather, and Roxy. Saying it'll be a "direct action" group, Garrett comes by and guesses Jonah started the group to be in charge. Denying this, Marcus offers to be leader which Jonah quickly shoots down. In Amy's office, Amy and Glenn are discussing an administrative matter. Sandra comments that they've made up which angers Dina, causing her to kick several boxes.
