Plot[]
Even dead he's creepy.
The staff are gathered in Housewares and looking at the face of a corpse that a construction worker found behind the drywall when effecting repairs to the store due to the tornado. In the Break Room, Glenn announces that the body was that of Sal, a creepy employee who hasn't been seen in a year. Glenn says Sal was drilling a hole in the drywall by the women's bathroom when his foot became caught in a cross-beam and he starved to death. Glenn tells the staff to not disturb the body until the coroner arrives. Dougie and Roger spray room deodorizer by Sal's corpse. (♫ Bobby "Boris" Pickett - Monster Mash ♫)
Aaargh!
At Customer Service, Jonah is looking at a dating app on his phone with Garrett. When Jonah finds a woman he's interested in, Amy grabs his phone and starts criticizing the women on the app. Glenn arrives and demands Jonah's help so he leaves his phone with Amy. Cheyenne is offering face painting for children and is frustrated when a Mom only wants a simple cat face for her daughter instead of some of the scarier designs. Mateo informs her that one of his cousins is getting married in the Philippines and he's frustrated he can't go due to his undocumented status. Jonah and Dina are hanging a sheet over the hole in the drywall where Sal's face can be seen. Glenn tugs at the sheet which results in Sal's body tearing the drywall and sticking out further. A man standing still in a clown costume scares a customer. (♫ Kevin Rudolf - Let It Rock ♫)
The deceit continues.
Amy discovers that Kelly has a profile on the dating app and she accidentally matches her with Jonah. Garrett encourages Amy to tell Kelly what happened but Amy wants to "sneak up like a ninja" and steal Kelly's phone and cancel the notification. At the staff bathrooms, a ninja figure is seen trailing Kelly but this turns out to be Robin who Amy tells to get out of her way. In the bathroom, Amy asks to borrow Kelly's phone but as Kelly is typing in the passcode, she gets a notification that she tells Amy is good news. A group of customers is looking at Sal's corpse which they think is a dummy. Glenn tells them it is a real dead body but they don't believe him. Dina tells Glenn that the coroner is delayed as a gas main blew at Shoeland. A concerned Jodi asks Dina which Shoeland, as her husband Frank works at the store, but Dina doesn't have time for her.
The Housewares section is not a haunted house!
In the Break Room, Kelly sits with Jonah expectantly but is interrupted by Amy. In order to prevent Kelly from connecting with Jonah, Amy tells Kelly to end her lunch and work a cash register. Amy won't give Jonah his phone back and leaves. A boy fills a shopping cart with candy. (♫ Oingo Boingo - Dead Man's Party ♫) Glenn has put signs around Sal indicating it's a real dead body. He announces on the P.A. system that customers should stay away as it is extremely disturbing but this attracts more customers who believe it is a Halloween display. In the Break Room, Dina opens Sal's locker while Cheyenne watches. They find numerous creepy items but Cheyenne's eyes widen when she sees his passport. Cheyenne approaches Mateo with the passport and convinces him that she'll make him up to look like Sal so he can go to the wedding in the Philippines.
Things have gone very wrong.
Elias is made up as Dame Edna (Cheyenne forced him to dress this way) and is stocking a shelf. (♫ Fleetwood Mac – Say You Love Me ♫) Kelly sends Jonah a wink on the dating app which Amy sees as she still has Jonah's phone. She texts Kelly that she's great but he shouldn't be dating right now. Garrett sarcastically points out that this will only prevent them from dating if they never see each other in the store. Cheyenne makes up Mateo to look like Sal while quizzing him on Sal's personal facts. A man standing still in a clown costume scares a customer but this time the customer punches him. (♫ Kevin Rudolf - Let It Rock ♫) Amy shows Garrett Jonah's phone - she's made the situation much worse by continually responding to Kelly's texts and finally saying that Jonah is very ill.
One ticket to Manila please.
A man dressed as a baby, pushes a small boy in a suit to a cash register. (♫ Ray Parker Jr. - Ghostbusters ♫) Cheyenne finishes making up Mateo and he is thrilled with how good a job she's done. A customer dressed as a coroner is mistaken by Dina for the real thing and she grabs him to dispose of Sal's body. Kelly sees Jonah setting up a display and is concerned for his well-being. She calls him strong and brave much to his puzzlement. As Cheyenne talks to Mateo, he makes an inappropriate remark to a customer. Cheyenne postulates that Mateo is starting to act like Sal since he is dressed and looks like him. Mateo doesn't agree but then makes a creepy remark. Dina and the coroner customer are carrying Sal's body when his wife arrives. The reality of the situation dawns on everyone and Dina yells for the customer to drop the body which ends up in a Halloween display.
Gotcha!
Amy tells Garrett that she might have figured out shift assignments that would keep Amy and Jonah apart while Garrett is sick on candy corn. They hear Kelly yelling and find her confronting Jonah. She accuses him of playing mind games with her which Jonah denies. Kelly grabs a knife and threatens Jonah which results in Amy confessing to perpetrating the situation. Jonah asks Kelly to put down the knife which enrages her and she stabs Jonah. Amy and Garrett scream but then realize it's a ruse. Brett is dressed in lederhosen and is hanging up dresses. Hey buddy, want some ribs?
As Mateo is helping an older woman try on shoes, he rubs her foot against his face. He realizes Cheyenne was right about him becoming like Sal and returns Sal's passport to her. He plans to wash the makeup off before he becomes Sal. In the Break Room, Amy, Jonah and Kelly are laughing and Jonah compliments Kelly's acting skills and leaves. Amy thanks Kelly for being understanding while Kelly thanks Amy for breaking the ice for her with Jonah. In the store, Dina escorts the real coroner into the store who finds Sal's body in a Halloween display. He asks her accusingly if she touched the body which she denies.

This episode was set up in the 2nd episode of season 2 "Brett is Dead" in which Amy reports to Dina that Justine was complaining about the odor in the woman's bathroom. At the time she described it as a "liquid raccoon smell". In this episode, Dina also stated that she had believed the rotting odor to be from Amy, which came from"the churn" of her "divorce tummy".
Goof 1: Sarah is seen in several scenes in an orange goldfish costume but in one scene at a cash register where a man is dressed as a baby, she is in her turtle outfit from "Halloween Theft". This is most likely an out-take which has been re-purposed.
Goof 2: Dina's "Office Naughty" costume is worn with thigh-high, laced boots which are difficult to put on and take off. She is seen in these boots at the beginning of the episode but when she and Jonah climb ladders to put a tarp over the drywall hole where Sal head is visible, she is wearing running shoes. The next scene, she is back in the boots. One could argue she might have changed.
